VDC MANAGER

The VDC Manager course series gives you the opportunity to learn the program yourself, from the first steps to the major features to some powerful use cases such as 4D/5D BIM project management and quality assurance. Some topics such as model versions or script functions will be available at a later stage.

To be able to pass all the quiz and understand the tool very well, it is strongly recommended to try out the program with our sample project during the training. The link to download the sample project is provided in the Getting started course.


To finish the curriculum, the following courses must be completed.

  • VDC MANAGER - Basic course
  • VDC MANAGER - 4D & 5D Project Management
  • VDC MANAGER - BIM Quality Assurance

    With attending the course, you will find out whether your device and its environment meet the requirements of the program. You will also be able to install the program, activate your license and configure the program. In the end, you will receive a brief overview of the user interface and get to know some basic functions of the 3D viewer.     • Lesson VDC MANAGER - Getting started

  • In this course, you will learn the definition of some terms related to the VDC Manager, such as domain, model and container. In addition, some domains will be explained in detail. You will also get to know how to edit the properties of the individual domains, which is one of the most frequently performed operations in the VDC Manager. This course uses interactive elements, which includes audio which can be muted by clicking on the speaker symbol. Duration:   50 - 55 minutes (reading time) Language:  English

  • In this course, you will learn about the basic concept of rule-based linking and how you can apply it in the domain. In addition, the domain of Bill of Quantities (BoQ) and Activities are introduced. You will also learn about a special method for generating activities with process components. And finally, you will learn how to visualise the activities with animations (4D simulation) and charts. This course uses interactive elements, which includes audio which can be muted by clicking on the speaker symbol. Duration:  45 - 50 minutes (reading time) Language:  English

  • In this course you will learn about the professional functions of the VDC Manager: clash detection and model checking domain, which are used intensively for quality assurance in construction or infrastructure projects, especially in the design and construction phase. For each domain, the basic functions, the configuration, the explanation of the results and the instructions for reusing and printing the results are explained.  This course uses interactive elements, which includes audio which can be muted by clicking on the speaker symbol.
